My Story
In most crafty corners of the web I go by Channyne [\ˈsha-nən\], a silly spelling of Shannon which was given to me in High School. There were so many Shannon’s my closest friend Shannon created this kooky variation for me and it’s stuck with me ever since.
My Mom has always shared her love for craft with me… she taught me how to sew at a very young age (I still have a faint scar from ironing barbie clothes). The holidays bring back great memories of the family chipping in finishing up projects for her to enter in Holiday Boutiques or Craft Fairs. I love to spend time crafting with her or helping her organize her craft area – which seems more often than not. (isn’t that the case for most of us?!) Although we have a great time crafting I think we have more fun bargain shopping at all our local thrift shops. Hence my love to re-purpose and alter. I started paper crafting about 5 years ago but I’ve been scrapbooking for almost 20 years… my Mom was a Creative Memories consultant which is now (for us) a line of the past.
Girl Scouts was a fun part of my childhood and I believe played a part in my love for craft too (little shout out to my girls in troop 1458! – lol). It may have also aided in my need to try every craft I come across (if only you were given badges of accomplishment throughout life!) Anyway, as you can see, I’m a “Jack of all trades & Master of nothing” but craft is a great stress relief for me and a fun way to give to those I love.
My husband and I got married on Valentines day. Not because we’re hopeless romantics but because neither of us can remember important dates for the life of us. And what better way to remember than celebrate on the day when the whole world has cupid on their minds. We met in 1996… I was a receptionist and he was ‘The Hot FedEx guy!’ I’ll spare you the serendipitous details of our courtship but it was kismet to say the least. I have a 14 year old stepson, we have 2 pretty cool boys, 4 and 1 and last but not least a baby girl born in April.
In 2008 I completed over 500 LO’s for swaps… either by hosting or participation. My goals for 2009 are pretty clear… scrap more, swap less and acknowledge family birthdays on time. (easier said than done with 3 little ones at your feet!)
