I just love the look of a chandelier in a little girls room. When I went looking I could not believe how much retailers were asking, $150 to $2000! I found a few at the standard chains… Ikea, Lowes, Target, WalMart etc. but they were very cookie cutter and I felt for the price it wasn’t exactly what I was looking for.
SO… I went searching for an old vintage chandelier that I was going to alter myself. I mostly searched Craigslist and eBay… nothing. Then my Mom called from her local Hospice with THE chandelier (YEA!), a little dirty, a little broken up but only $8!!!
So I bought a can of spray paint $4, a conversion kit (for the electrical) $9, new light bulbs $2, new socket covers $7 and six bunches of roses from M’s 70% off Valentines inventory, $6. It took a few days, some trial and error but I loved this project and I love the outcome and all for under $30 (Grandma paid for the Chandelier! Thanks Grandma!). I cannot wait for hubby to paint her room so I can start decorating. And so I can take a picture of my project in it’s new home! Here’s the progression of my efforts… thanks for looking!
